Relaxing and allowing the body to sleep and refuel is so important. Imagine driving your vehicle around non-stop for a week – at some point, the engine will let you know it has had enough. The same goes for our bodies, they are our vehicles. Our bodies need sleep of at least 8+hrs, and our body needs time to relax and just let go of all that is confining our mind.
I say “relax and dream” because even if we are getting the right amount of nighttime shut-eye – we also need to take the time to truly let the energies within our body calm and find center throughout the day as well.
Think about what relaxes your body and how you can include those relaxation techniques in your daily routine?
DRINK THE MOST NOURISHING CHOICES OF LIQUIDS.
When it comes to nourishing our bodies with the proper hydration, it is vital to choose liquids that serve our body well. I regularly make sure that I drink at least 8-8oz glasses of water (good old h20) daily.
In addition to drinking my water first, I then add organic smoothies and raw juices to my daily routine. I typically juice more veggies than fruit – juicing is an excellent way to sneak those hard to taste vegetables in your diet. A typical smoothie for me consists of ½ banana, 1 handful of rich greens like baby spinach or kale, 1 tsp Chia seeds, ½ cup berries, and 1 cup of pure water or other liquid like almond or coconut milk (nondairy milk).
I also love – love – love drinking infused water as well. When drinking infused water, you simply add fruit to pure water and have it ferment in the fridge for a couple hours until the nutrients penetrate the liquid and are ready for use.
NOURISH YOUR BODY WITH NUTRIENTS.
It’s time we ask ourselves every time we eat if what we are about to consume will nourish our body or not. To choose foods that nourish our body and are designed to support it, we simply need to choose foods in their most natural form. I choose foods that are mostly raw, not packaged, not fried, not “fast” served, and foods that if labeled – are completely and totally understandable when it comes to the ingredients.
I choose to stay on the outer aisles when I shop for groceries because most of the products down the aisles contain harsh preservatives. I prefer mostly organic foods for both my veggies, fruits, and my meat. I prefer food items that are free from pesticides, herbicides, hormones, and antibiotics. I prefer meat that is free-range from farms where the animals were cared for and loved. As the old saying goes “Eat your fruits and veggies”. It truly cannot be simpler than that. If you don’t like to eat vegetables, try juicing them.
A nourished body creates a nourished balanced mood.
DANCE LIKE NOBODY’S WATCHING.
This step sounds pretty simple, doesn’t it? But, when was the last time you let your body freely flow in the form of rhythmic movement and pure joy? Too often, we create a busy lifestyle which involves demand deadlines and scheduled routines. Also having a workout routine is absolutely excellent for your health and for your mood because you are moving those needed endorphins to boost your mood.
But- I really want you to freely move, freely dance, as if nobody else is around. Not only will you be releasing tension, but you will be having a good time! I love to dance around when I’m by myself because it releases tension, and it’s fun, and I get to jam out to awesome music that by the end of my jam out session leaves me feeling fabulous and stress-free.
Indulge in key foundational supplements.
Our body runs on required vitamins and nutrients. Our digestive system runs on required “good bacteria” to function properly. I always take a good multivitamin, 1000mg of Vitamin D especially during the months when the sun is barely showing face, omega 3’s, and, of course, a multi-strand 5 billion CFU probiotic.
You want quality over quantity with everything in life, including supplements.
Now, we get to the “good stuff”. These steps fuel our mood by nourishing our soul as we take a holistic approach to our life and happiness.
Fearlessly dream. This step is vital for mood boosting. Too often, we stop dreaming especially when we become an adult and our responsibilities get in the way of our child-like free thinking mind.
I want you to write down your top 3 dreams – without fear, and without any thoughts of objects or circumstances that you think may get in the way.
First of all what is taking care of our bodies, is it simply just grooming, certainly not. Taking care of our bodies is being healthy and fit. The bible tells us we were made in his image; God’s image is of course righteous but also healthy and perfect. Can you imagine what Adam and Eve looked like during the creation of the world? I’m sure they were defiantly in shape, healthy and fit. We must strive to keep that image by feeding our bodies the nutritional food God has desire for us. God expects this for us so we can do his will; he has a plan and purpose for each one of us and how can we fulfill his will if we are unhealthy. Here I will provide you with 7 reasons why God expects us to be healthy and hopefully it will motivate you to care for yourself and to live healthy in the Lord. For the next 7 days we will focus on the following:
Day 1: Being Healthy Glorifies God
Day 2: You will have more energy
Day 3: You’re taking care of His Temple (Your Body)
Day 4: You will be better equipped for God’s purpose for your life
Day 5: To provide for your family
Day 6: To have a better quality of life
Day 7: Preventive Measure against Sickness & Diseases
Day 1: Being Healthy Glorifies God
1 Cor. 10:31 Teaches us that whatever you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it or glorify God. Living in good health has always been a blessing in walking with the Lord. We serve a God who cares about us in a holistic way. We are connected to Him in mind, body and soul. Jesus spent the majority his ministry healing people of all kinds of physical maladies. It brings glory to our God to live a life full of vigor and isn’t it interesting to know that His healing methods were done in a spiritual way. This means that if we change our minds about how we eat our bodies will transform in ways that we never thought was possible. God wants us to shine in all areas of our lives and our health is a major factor in our service to Him and others. The Glory of His knowledge shines through us out into the world therefore demonstrating that His word reigns supreme in every aspect of life. God has graciously given us all with a body to live in and it is our God given responsibility to take care ourselves with wisdom of his Word and the strength of His Spirit. care ourselves with wisdom of his Word and the strength of His Spirit. Therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1Cor 1:20 . ………………………Stay tune for Day 2:
Day 2: You Will Have More Energy
Poor nutrition and inadequate calorie intake can cause fatigue. All foods supply calories for energy, but not all calories are equal. 1 Cor. 10:23 the Bible teaches us that all things that are lawful but not all things are expedient. The food industry offers a large range of food to choose from but we must choose the food that provides us with proper nutrients for our bodies. Certain foods provide more vitamins and minerals for the amount of energy they supply, so choose nutrient-dense foods to fuel your daily energy needs. Our energy comes from the foods we eat and the liquids we drink. Your body needs food that’s rich in vitamins and nutrients to function at its best to do the will of God. The more energy you have the more you can spread the Gospel of Christ. Christ walked miles and miles to spread the Gospel; he had to be fit to engage into these activities daily. We all know that the more fit and healthy we are the more energy we will have. The more energy that we have, the more we can put into the greatness God has place before us. ……………….Stay Tune for Day 3:
Day 3: You Are Taking Care of God’s Temple (Your Body)
Temple reconstruction starts from the ground up. Israel’s temple was destroyed on many occasions because of their continued disobedience to the Lord’s righteousness and their earthly glory was lost on many occasions. In like manner our temple (body) is destroyed and broken down over a process of time when we refuse or rebel against the goodness of God. Although we have the right to eat what we choose everything is not beneficial for the body. When we allow ourselves to be at our best we will become phenomenal. God has supplied all our needs so that we can live and function at an optimal level. Therefore taking care of your temple is the righteous, relevant and real thing to do leading to a glorious body. 1 Cor 6: 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God…………..stay tune for Day 4
Day 4: You Are Better Equipped for God’s Purpose for Your Life
Being healthy is essential to having energy and fulfilling the life God has called us by his grace to live in. We all need naturally healthy energy that comes from whole food. Whole food naturally produces and continues to provide positive energy without the crashing effect of the over the counter quick fix solutions or high caffeine energy drinks. Within our purpose there are many reasons that we need energy which includes our children, family and those friends who are near and dear to our hearts. Children are full of energy and to very productive and engaging in their life we must me healthy and energetic as well. Life without healthy energy is slow and lethargic. God and your family want you to be at your very best.
Day 5: To Provide For Your Family
Provisions are the items that are provided for our families to live a healthy and stable life. Therefore it is vital and with the utmost importance that we are able to work for the Lord and for our families. When you are beat down and wore out, the quality of your work will suffer and we all want to be at our best when working for the Lord or families. If married your husband or wife needs you to have energy for them. Children are naturally energetic before the world pumps them full of its deadly products and because of that they will need you to have as much energy as possible for some fun and playtime.
Day 6: To Have A Better Quality of Life
What is long life without quality? When we strive to live a life of quality everything improves. Our minds are sharper, hearts are healthier, lungs are stronger and the overall improvements are increased all over. The skin becomes clearer and the nails become stronger and your sex life becomes better. Men when your body is healthy you can perform at an optimal level without all the unnatural methods being provided today. Quality is not made by man but rather provided by God. Viagra was first my by God except He calls it mandrakes (love-plant) which is a natural aphrodisiac which promotes conception. There are many other natural aphrodisiac alternative). A healthy quality of life will be appreciate by all those you love and live for.
Metabolism is converting food into energy. Metabolism is the process by which your body converts what you eat and drink into energy. During this complex biochemical process, calories in food and beverages are combined with oxygen to release the energy your body needs to function.
Metabolism is linked to weight, but a slow metabolism is not the main cause for weight gain – in fact, it’s what you’re eating and drinking that causes you to gain weight or struggle with weight loss.
Physical activity can help boost your metabolism, which will help you burn calories faster, however. Metabolism isn’t the only thing that causes you to burn calories. Two other things, food processing and physical activity, also play roles in helping your body to burn calories. When you eat food, your body actually burns calories while processing it.
One of the most important things to understand when boosting your metabolism is eating metabolism boosting foods. Protein is vital for metabolism boosting; nuts are one of the best proteins out there, especially if you’re looking to boost your metabolism. Eat some almonds or walnuts as a snack, or mix them in with another protein source like a protein smoothie or lean chicken and beef. You should be eating more protein to help kick start your weight loss plan.
One of the biggest struggles that people have when trying to lose weight is boosting their metabolism which helps in the process of weight loss. Physical activity during the day is the second-largest factor determining your metabolism. Participating in any level of activity is better than being completely inactive, but if your goal is weight loss, begin by stepping up the pace by choosing the right foods and incorporating exercising in your daily routine. Understanding your metabolism is a key component to your weight loss journey.
In the fast paced world that we live in it can be easy to neglect our health and wellness. We’re so busy racing through our day to day lives – family, friends, work, and social engagements – that we don’t take the time to to invest in our health. It’s no wonder that so many of us are tired with low energy and run down. What are some simple things that we can do to improve our well being?
You’ve heard it a million times and you’ll probably hear it a million more – drink more water!
Think about it: The human body is 72% water. A 5% drop in fluids creates a 25-30% loss in energy. A 15% drop in fluids causes death! At this point in time 66% of us aren’t drinking enough water, so over half the population are water deficient before anything else such as like bad air, bad food and stress. It’s not really a difficult thing to remedy. Just drink one glass of water every half hour or so – or 10-12 glasses of water per day – and you’ll notice a huge jump in your energy levels.
Considering that we already aren’t eating enough veggies with the lifestyle we live. It’s mainly high refine sugars or high carbs meal that’s a fairly substantial problem. Nutritionists recommend five serves of fresh vegetables per day. How many of us are actually taking that advice?
A great way to get the nutrients found in fresh veggies without spending all day at stove or eating raw celery sticks is to juice your veggies. Make sure that you own a good juicer (some juicers expose vegetables to heat created by friction during juicing, which breaks down important enzymes), grab some fresh vegetables and drink your way to good health. It takes a fraction of the time (there’s no cooking involved, for one thing) and it’s convenient. You can take your juice to work and even give some to the littlies for school lunches!
Wheatgrass in particular is an excellent source of nutrition. It’s high in chlorophyll (sometimes described as ‘plant blood’ because it closely resembles human red blood cell molecules) and has over 100 elements that the body needs. Fresh fruit and vegetables are another excellent source for vitamins and minerals.
Exercise is another duty we often over look due to a lack of time, is the commonly used excuse. The thing is, exercise doesn’t have to be horribly time consuming or boring. There are plenty of options and fun ways you can enjoy exercise. Chose something that you love to do considering being active and be constant in doing it daily.
Years ago gyms usually offered weight rooms, aerobics classes and maybe a circuit training. Now you can add water aerobics, yoga, pilates, dance-ercise, step classes, weight training, cycling, and a whole range of new workout options.
If you don’t really have the time or money for the gym, or prefer to spend your mornings/nights at home, then try an exercise bike or a treadmill. I’d be lost without my treadmill – I set it up in front of the television and easily run 3miles while watching my favorite show or listen to music.
If you’re physically unfit or struggle with an injury, and particularly if you’re also unwell, do the most minimal amount of exercise in a day. The danger is that inactivity leads to further loss of energy, which becomes a self-perpetuating cycle until you can barely get off the couch.
An excellent way to get back into a physical routine is to start slowly. Ridiculously slowly, it may seem. For the first couple of weeks, walk/ride for 5 minutes per day – exactly 5 minutes, no more, even if you think you could continue. When the 2 weeks are up, increase to 7 minutes, then 10 minutes, 12 minutes… continue to gradually increase your activity until you’re at a level that you’re comfortable with.
It may sound a little silly, but it works. After having a cesarean during child birth I could hardly do anything. I followed this simple process daily and worked my way back to running 3 miles and walking 6 miles on alternative days. So I know it can be done, we really have no excuse. In effect, you trick your body into producing more energy. You’re building your exercise time up so slowly that your body doesn’t really realize what’s happening. Follow this method and, before you know it, you’ll be comfortably exercising within your limits every day.
